Cypriot film Hold Onto Me to be released in cinemas on September 17

Cypriot feature film Hold Onto Me, directed by Myrsini Aristidou, will be released in K Cineplex cinemas on September 17. This was reported by Cyprus Mail, citing the film’s producers.

Screening at Sundance

The film was written and directed by Myrsini Aristidou. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, where Hold Onto Me became the first Cypriot feature film selected for the festival’s international competition.

The film also won the Audience Award in the World Cinema Dramatic category. After Sundance, it was screened at major festivals in various countries around the world, where it received awards and positive reviews.

The story of Iris and her father

At the center of the plot is 11-year-old Iris, who gets into trouble with the police and meets her estranged father, Aris. He has returned to attend his own father’s funeral.

Iris seeks to get to know Aris better and enters his closed-off world despite his resistance. An unexpected bond gradually develops between them. The film stars Christos Passalis and Maria Petrova; it explores themes of absence, family and the relationships that shape people.

Filming took place in Cyprus. The film was produced by Filmblades and One Six One Films in co-production with partners from Denmark and Greece. Monika Nicolaidou and Myrsini Aristidou served as producers.
