Musician Tori Amos to release second children’s book — Rolling Stone

Musician Tori Amos has announced her second children’s book, A Sorta Fairytale. The publication will be a prequel to her debut children’s book Tori and the Muses, which was a New York Times bestseller, Rolling Stone reports.

An adventure in Rose-Dover

The new book will tell the story of an attempt to save the town of Rose-Dover. Tori, the Muses, and Tori’s friends from the Emerald Forest, who also appeared in the first book, will return in the story.

According to the synopsis, Tori tries to save Rose-Dover from an evil spell cast by a character named Mr. Bad Man. She turns to her friends from the Emerald Forest and the Muses for help. Through magic and teamwork, the characters create a special pink piano that breaks the spell.

The book is dedicated to the magic of working together and is intended to inspire readers to create and collaborate.

Illustrations by Demelza Houghton

The illustrations for A Sorta Fairytale were created by Demelza Houghton, who also worked on Tori and the Muses. Her work includes retellings of six fairy tales by Hans Christian Andersen.

Amos said that after completing Tori and the Muses, she felt that other stories remained in this world, including stories about the creatures that helped shape it. She also noted that working with Houghton, who once again brought this world to life in illustrations, became a source of inspiration for her.

In addition to children’s books, Amos is the author of Resistance: A Songwriter’s Story of Hope, Change, and Courage, released in 2020, and Piece by Piece, published in 2005. Her 18th studio album, In Times of Dragons, was released in May.
