The Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation has announced a competition to create illustrations for Maria Papandreou’s book As the Lady Says…, intended for readers aged 11 and over. This was reported by Cyprus Mail.

Papandreou’s work received an award in a children’s and young adult literature competition organized by the Cyprus Association of Children’s and Young Adult Books with sponsorship support from the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation.
From a child’s perspective, the book addresses themes of the violent disruption of everyday life, loss, memory, and human resilience. It is a coming-of-age story that uses symbolism, expressive storytelling, and subtle humor.
