NikitA and "NeAngels" are back on stage, preparing to relaunch their projects

Ukrainian producer Yuriy Nikitin has announced the relaunch of the iconic pop groups NikitA and "NeAngely," which once defined the sound of Ukrainian show business. At the same time, he did not reveal who exactly would be part of the revamped lineups, leaving plenty of intrigue surrounding the projects’ return.

Yuriy Nikitin decided to bring back two groups at once that once filled concert halls and were among the biggest names on the Ukrainian pop scene—NikitA and "NeAngely." For now, this isn’t a full-scale launch with finalized lineups, but rather the start of a major reboot, where there are more questions than answers, though it’s already clear that the producer is serious about bringing these projects back into the game.

He spoke about this in an interview with Slava Dyomin, where he immediately made it clear that the story will unfold differently for each band. In particular, NikitA, according to him, is already almost fully formed as a concept, and listeners can expect a refresh that should surprise even those who remember the original lineup well. At the same time, Nikitin left some intrigue regarding the possible return of Dasha Astafieva, neither confirming nor denying her participation.

With “NeAngels,” the situation is more complex and open-ended. The producer speaks of casting and the search for new members, hinting that the former vocalists—Slava Kaminska and Viktoria Smeyukha—will not be returning to the project. At the same time, he emphasizes that he wants to preserve the band’s recognizable sound, since it was the vocal parts that once made it special.

“Why the casting? Because they have unique voices. Voices like that are one in a million. They are undoubtedly talented, so I said that the story hasn’t been decided yet, but I really want to bring this project back to Ukrainian show business,” Nikitin noted.

The producer himself also recalled that NikitA originally launched in 2008, and its first lineup consisted of Dasha Astafieva and Yulia Kavtaradze, who was later replaced by Anastasia Kumeiko. These groups were among the most striking pop projects of their time, and now there are efforts to bring them back within the new realities of Ukrainian show business, where nostalgia blends with a new demand for a contemporary sound.

As a reminder, over a thousand movie stars have spoken out against the merger of Warner Bros. Discovery and ParamountSkydance.

Paramount recently announced a $110 billion deal to acquire Warner Bros. The transaction now requires regulatory approval, which is the next step in the process of integrating the two media giants.
