The signatures on the contract regarding Marchuk’s paintings were not made by Apostol — expert analysis
As part of the court case filed by artist Ivan Marchuk, the Lviv Research Institute of Forensic Expertise examined the signatures of one of the defendants—Igor Apostol.
The examination concerned a licensing agreement dated May 21, 2020, under which the economic copyrights to the artist’s paintings were transferred.
According to Marchuk’s attorney, Natalia Kalinichenko, the experts reached the unequivocal conclusion that the signatures of Igor Apostol on all nine pages of the agreement do not belong to him. The report states that they were made by another person.
“The results of the expert examination confirm that the signature on the agreement belongs not to Igor Apostol, but to another person. We expect the proceedings in the case to be resumed and the matter to be heard in court,” Kalinichenko stated.
The Ternopil City and District Court is hearing the lawsuit seeking to invalidate the license agreement. The next hearing has not yet been scheduled.
