Border guards in Bukovina seized smuggled antique valuables
At border checkpoints in the Chernivtsi region, border guards prevented the illegal export of several shipments of historical and cultural artifacts.
Law enforcement officers discovered the hidden artifacts during routine inspections of vehicles heading to Moldova and Romania.
Among the seized items were religious artifacts, antique literature, and military symbols from past centuries.
All discovered items were officially confiscated and handed over to the competent authorities for detailed art and historical examination.

A passenger on a bus heading to Chisinau attempted to secretly transport military insignia from the Russian Empire across the state border.
The offender hoped to avoid a thorough inspection by hiding the collectibles in his own socks; however, during border and customs control, this discovery was promptly detected and seized.
Another incident occurred at the Dyakivtsi checkpoint during a thorough inspection of a minibus traveling toward Romania.
In the luggage compartment of the vehicle, which was being driven by a Ukrainian citizen, law enforcement officers found three volumes of a rare collection dating back to 1906.
The early 20th-century publications were being transported without the necessary permits required for the movement of cultural heritage items.
This was reported by the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine – Western Border.
