Sal Da Vinci and the voice of Naples, known throughout Italy, at Eurovision 2026

Sal Da Vinci and the voice of Naples, known throughout Italy, at Eurovision 2026

Sal Da Vinci is an Italian singer and actor from Naples who has been performing on stage since childhood and has become one of the most recognizable voices in Italian pop music. His career spans music, theater, and major festivals, including Sanremo. Today, he is returning to the big competition stage as one of the key participants, according to the official Eurovision website.

Sal Da Vinci, whose stage name is Salvatore Michael Sorrentino, is one of those artists whose biography literally unfolded on stage. He was born in 1969 in New York while his father, the famous Italian singer and actor Mario Da Vinci, was on tour, and from his earliest years he was immersed in the world of music and theater.

His stage debut came very early—at just seven years old, when he began performing alongside leading Italian actors and theater artists. It was then that he developed a sense of the stage as his natural environment, and music gradually became the main focus of his career.

His first major breakthrough came in 1994, when he won the Canale 5 music festival with the song “Vera,” which later received an international version titled “Vida” and became popular in Latin America. This was followed by major theatrical projects, including Opera Buffa del Giovedì Santo and the lead role in the musical C’era Una Volta…Scugnizzi, which established him as an artist working across multiple genres.

In 2009, he took third place at the Sanremo Festival with the song “Non Riesco A Farti Innamorare,” and many years later returned to the competition, winning it in 2026—one of the most notable events of his recent career.

The song “Rossetto e Caffè,” released in 2024, became a phenomenon in its own right, amassing over 450 million streams, earning double-platinum status, and becoming one of the most successful Italian tracks of the year.

Today, Sal Da Vinci is back on the big stage. Fifteen contestants are performing in the semifinals, and his performance is part of the main competition block, where Italy and Germany are also represented as part of the “Big Four” in the Grand Final, adding an even more international dimension to the evening.
