Satoshi will be the first to open the Eurovision semifinals

Moldovan artist Satoshi will be the first to take the stage in today’s Eurovision semifinal. In just a few years, he has gone from being a young man from a small town to one of Moldova’s most prominent young musicians, and his name has been the subject of much discussion on more than one occasion, according to the official Eurovision website

Satoshi is a singer, rapper, and songwriter from the Moldovan city of Cahul. The artist himself has often said that his musical journey began in childhood—back then, he taught himself to play the drums and gradually started recording his own tracks.

Satoshi launched his solo project in 2019. Since then, he has released several albums, gained popularity in Moldova and Romania, and started actively performing at concerts. In 2024, the artist performed in London for the first time, and his audience has grown significantly far beyond the borders of his home country. Fans love Satoshi for his emotional lyrics and the atmosphere at his concerts. On stage, he often talks to the audience about anxiety, fatigue, loneliness, and inner struggles. The artist himself says he wants his music to be a “place where people can breathe a sigh of relief.”

The singer chose his stage name because of his fascination with Japanese culture. In his words, the word “Satoshi” means clarity of thought, inner freedom, and creative thinking to him.

At the same time, controversies have already arisen around the artist. On social media, he has been criticized more than once for his overly gloomy song style and harsh lyrics. Some listeners consider his work “too depressing,” while others, on the contrary, say that it is precisely his sincerity and openness that have made him popular among young people. There have also been several instances in Moldova where conflicts between Satoshi’s fans and fans of other local artists were discussed, stemming from competition in the music charts and harsh comments on social media. The singer himself usually avoids major scandals and rarely responds directly to criticism.

Despite this, interest in the artist continues to grow. His tracks regularly trend, and his concerts draw sold-out crowds. For many young listeners in Moldova, Satoshi has already become one of the symbols of the new wave of local music.

Today, the artist will open the first Eurovision semifinal. Fifteen contestants will perform in the show, and Satoshi will take the stage first. His performance will kick off the evening’s competition.

The Eurovision Song Contest will begin on May 12, with Finland considered the top contender for victory.

The organizers of Eurovision 2026 have explained the voting rules for the contest.

The Eurovision organizers issued a warning to Israel for violating the voting rules.
