Sweden is allocating $1.3 million to protect Ukrainian cultural sites
The Swedish government has decided to provide $1.3 million in financial assistance for 2026–2027 to preserve cultural heritage in Ukraine. The funds will be channeled through UNESCO, specifically to support the Khortytsia National Reserve and strengthen the institutional capacity of relevant institutions.
Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga expressed gratitude to the Swedish side for its contribution to the protection of Ukrainian identity. He wrote about this on social media.
Sybiha emphasized that this support will ensure the preservation of sites threatened by Russia’s war against Ukraine. The protection of culture is a key factor in the country’s resilience and an important component of the future of all of Europe. The implementation of the project will allow for the strengthening of conservation measures for monuments located in high-risk areas due to constant shelling. Sweden remains one of the leading countries in providing humanitarian and cultural aid to Ukraine.
