Space.com notes that science fiction plots existed in literature long before the first films of the genre appeared. The publication cites Georges Méliès’s film *A Trip to the Moon*, which was released in 1902.
The author of the article, Harry Bennett, specifically mentioned the novel *Annihilation*, which he reread before the release of its film adaptation. In his opinion, books can provide an experience that movies and TV series aren’t always able to replicate.
