Singer Brandi Carlile to launch fan-requested tour — Rolling Stone

American singer Brandi Carlile will embark on her Burn the Setlist U.S. tour in the fall, during which songs for each concert will be selected based on audience requests. She will be joined by her longtime band members and creative collaborators Phil and Tim Hanseroth. Rolling Stone reports.

The performance program will be shaped directly during the concerts, so the setlists will differ from one evening to another. Carlile previously used this format as part of The Human Tour, which took place earlier this year.

Concerts in theaters

The tour will begin on November 5 at Revolution Hall in Portland. Concerts are also planned in Oakland, Tucson, Des Moines, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Louisville, Kansas City and Port Chester. Carlile will perform two concerts each in Tucson, Milwaukee and Minneapolis, while the tour will conclude with three shows at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester on December 15, 16 and 17.

The singer selected some venues from among theaters where she performed at the beginning of her career, including Revolution Hall in Portland, the Rialto Theatre in Tucson, the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee and the State Theatre in Minneapolis.

Phone-free performances

The concerts will take place without the use of phones: visitors will be provided with special Yondr pouches for their devices. A statement cited by the publication says that this format is intended to allow the musicians to try difficult things, make mistakes and interact more closely with the audience.

Each show will feature a QR code through which attendees will receive three bootleg recordings of the concert and other exclusive content from the evening. Full recordings of the performances will be available for purchase only to those who attended the concert. Presales for premium members of the Bramily fan club will begin on September 29 at 10:00 a.m. local time, while presales for other members will begin the same day at 2:00 p.m. General sales will start on October 2 at 10:00 a.m. local time.

Earlier this month, Carlile won Song of the Year at the Americana Honors & Awards for the song Returning to Myself. Last week, she released a deluxe version of the album of the same name, Returning to Myself (Sad Gay Version), which includes four tracks co-produced by Aaron Dessner, as well as a new version of Billy Joel's song And So It Goes.
