Ukrainian actor Taras Tsymbalyuk spoke candidly about his relationship with Olena Svitlytska. The star of the series “Catching Kaidash” responded to comments from users discussing his romance, who particularly noted that Svitlytska has two children. The couple only recently began speaking openly about their relationship. Prior to this, rumors about a romance between Tsymbaliuk and Svitlytska had been circulating online for quite some time. Now the couple posts joint photos more often and doesn’t hide their feelings.
However, along with support, they’ve also received quite a bit of criticism. In particular, some commenters began writing that the actor had allegedly chosen a “woman with baggage,” referring to Olena’s children. Tsymbalyuk admitted that he had started noticing such comments on social media. That said, the phrasing itself didn’t offend him. The actor decided to figure out where this line of reasoning even came from. “You’ve got a woman with baggage… I started seeing comments like that on social media because my beloved has two children. And the word ‘trailer’ doesn’t bother me; I’m just trying to understand a certain logic—that is, if a woman comes into your life with a certain history, is she positioned by society as less valuable?” the actor said.
According to Taras, he sees Olena and her motherhood in a completely different light. He described his partner as a very emotional person with a strong character and a lot of energy. “First of all, my beloved, my Olena—she’s like a tornado; she’s very emotional, and I’m ready to go along with that. And motherhood itself—it grounds her in a very beautiful way,” said Tsymbalyuk.
The actor emphasized that having children hasn’t changed Svitlytska or taken away her personality. In his opinion, motherhood has simply given her a new and important direction in life. “It doesn’t change her; it doesn’t take away her unique core—it gives her a completely new and unique direction,” he noted.
What Attracted Tsymbalyuk to Svitlytska
Taras also said that he wasn’t drawn to Olena because of her appearance or status. He was drawn to her human qualities—her ability to love, empathize, and be sensitive. According to the actor, motherhood may have actually strengthened these character traits. He believes that after the birth of their daughters, Olena became even more empathetic and attentive to others. It’s also important to Tsymbalyuk that in a relationship, each person brings their own past. He’s convinced that adults don’t start new relationships with a clean slate.

At the same time, he doesn’t see this as a drawback. “Yes, a relationship with a woman who has two children is more complicated—it’s not a warm bath; you won’t be the center of the universe here,” said Tsymbalyuk.
In his opinion, this can even be a useful experience for a man. After all, in a relationship with a partner who has children, you have to take into account the needs of more than just two adults. “And that, by the way, is a useful lesson for a selfish grown man, because we often confuse good relationships with convenient ones,” the actor explained.
Tsymbalyuk also drew attention to age. He noted that after the age of 30, people already have their own life experiences, which cannot simply be left at the door of a new relationship. “When we come into each other’s lives after 30—we each have our own background. And yes, some people have two children, others have been married twice…” Taras noted.
That’s why the actor disagrees with the notion that he supposedly “accepted” Olena along with her children. For him, these aren’t separate parts of a person that need to be evaluated or accepted. “That’s why I didn’t ‘accept’ Olena despite the fact that she has two children—that’s the wrong way to frame it. I fell in love with her for who she really is. And the children are part of her journey,” Tsymbaliuk concluded.
