The 16th International Biennial is underway in Curitiba, featuring more than 300 artists
The 16th International Biennial is currently underway in Curitiba, Brazil, bringing together more than 300 artists from 38 countries. The event’s public program began on June 14 and will run through November 15, 2026, according to The Rio Times. The official opening took place on June 13.
The theme of the biennial is “Limiares” (“Thresholds”). It explores the shifting boundaries between humans and technology, the natural and the artificial, and the physical and digital environments. Participants represent five continents.

The main venue is the Oscar Niemeyer Museum in the Centro Cívico district at Rua Marechal Hermes, 999. The exhibition at the museum is open daily from June 14 to November 15, with last admission at 5:30 p.m. A full-price ticket costs 36 Brazilian reais, and a discounted ticket costs 18 reais. Admission to the main museum is free every Wednesday. Students, people aged 60 and older, and other specified categories of visitors are eligible for discounted tickets.
The Biennial program also includes the Paranáense Museum, the Paraná State Museum of Contemporary Art, the Museum of Image and Sound, the Alfredo Andersen Museum, the Museum of Photography, the Museum of Engraving, and the Memorial de Curitiba. Artworks, installations, performances, and art events are also presented at transportation terminals and other urban spaces. Among the artists listed on the Biennial’s website are Thiago Martins de Melo, Tavin Davis, Julia Isidrez, Abel Barroso, and Guillermo Srodek-Hart.
