Brigitte Bardot's personal belongings were sold at auction in Paris
In Paris, 285 personal items belonging to the legendary French actress, model, and singer Brigitte Bardot were sold at auction. The auction took place on September 21 at the Hôtel Drouot in Paris, and total sales amounted to nearly 954,000 euros, including commissions.
Among the lots were furniture, clothing, jewelry, tableware, kitchen utensils, religious figurines, lighters, classical guitars, and the actress’s personal items.
The items came from her two homes in Saint-Tropez—La Madrague and La Garrigue—as well as from her Paris apartment.
Among the most unusual items were an Olivetti typewriter, on which Brigitte Bardot wrote letters and her autobiography; a Peugeot bicycle; and two pairs of Repetto leather ballet flats.
Also up for auction were erotic portraits of the actress, stuffed animals, her dogs’ collars, and other items from her private life.
The jewelry attracted particular interest. In particular, a gold bracelet that Bardot wore during her wedding to Jacques Charrier sold for 43,000 euros, although the initial estimate was 800–1,200 euros. Her self-portrait was purchased for 30,000 euros.
In total, 285 items were sold to approximately 3,000 French and international bidders. The total proceeds were nearly 20 times the initial estimate.
The actress’s personal secretary, Franck Gilliou, noted that these items preserve memories of different periods of her life.
“Every item sold bears the mark of an encounter, a shared experience, a moment of happiness, or a stage in her life. They tell the story of a woman, as well as a legend,” said Franck Guillou.
The proceeds from the auction will go to the Brigitte Bardot Foundation and her only son, Nicolas-Jacques Charrier. The foundation continues the work to which the actress dedicated a significant part of her life after her film career ended.
Brigitte Bardot died on December 28, 2025, at the age of 91. Her death was confirmed by the Brigitte Bardot Foundation.
In 1973, Bardot left the film industry at the height of her popularity and focused on animal welfare. The Brigitte Bardot Foundation was established in 1986 and became the main focus of her subsequent public activities.
The actress spoke out against seal hunting, the use of fur, and animal cruelty, and actively supported the work of the foundation she founded.
The auction in Paris was one of the largest sales of Brigitte Bardot’s personal belongings following her death and made it possible to use part of her estate to fund the foundation’s ongoing work.
