New concert hall opens in Salaspils, Latvia — LSM English

A new multifunctional concert hall has opened in Salaspils, Latvia. It is located in the city center on the site of the former Soviet cultural center “Enerģētiķis.” The project was fully funded by the local municipality, and its total cost amounted to €18.5 million.

As LSM English reports, the new cultural venue was opened near Riga, which is still awaiting a new concert hall of its own. Among the first performers on the new stage were singers Marija Naumova and Linda Leen, as well as the band Musiqq. They performed accompanied by the Vidzeme Chamber Orchestra under the direction of conductor Andris Veismanis.

Musicians’ reviews

Andris Veismanis, artistic director and conductor of the Vidzeme Chamber Orchestra, highly praised the new hall. He noted the well-designed space for performers, including changing rooms, and called it one of the best concert halls in the Pierīga region that he knows. According to him, the combination of pop music and a classical orchestra sounds good in this hall.

Marija Naumova spoke positively about the sound and the stage, which she described as cozy, large and deep. The singer also noted that she performed at the former cultural center around 30 years ago. Linda Leen said that the emergence of another venue near Riga with new technologies and a good atmosphere is a positive development.
