100,000 Rescene buns sold in South Korea in four days — Channel NewsAsia

In South Korea, the first pastry from the K-pop group Rescene's collection with the CU convenience store chain sold about 100,000 units in four days after sales began. Woni's Corn Cream Bread, dedicated to group member Woni, was released on September 17.

Sales and pre-orders

According to BGF Retail, which operates the CU chain, the product's sell-through rate was 99% during the first 24 hours after launch. Pre-orders for the bun through the CU mobile app sold out almost immediately after opening.

As reported by Channel NewsAsia, total bread sales at CU rose by 20% compared with the same period last year. Social media users wrote that it was difficult to find the product in stores. One commenter said they saw people waiting for the delivery truck even before the buns were placed on shelves.

A BGF Retail representative told Yonhap News Agency that demand for the first product exceeded expectations. The company plans to expand the range with products reflecting the tastes of Rescene's members.

Five types of pastry and a mini-album

The collection consists of five types of pastry, each dedicated to one of Rescene's members: Woni, Liv, Minami, May, and Zena. The products will be released gradually, and each will include a random photo card. A total of 27 card variants have been prepared.

On September 22, the group's agency announced that Rescene will release the mini-album Pulse on November 3. It will be the group's first physical album in a year.
