Sculpture based on G-Dragon’s voice unveiled in Seoul
A 170-centimeter sculpture based on the voice of K-pop performer G-Dragon has been unveiled at the JN Gallery in Seoul’s Gangnam district. The work, PEACEMINUSONE, is made of resin and steel and illuminated from within by LEDs.
Voice as the basis for a sculpture
The author of the work is Korean artist Lee Kwang-young. He met G-Dragon in person, recorded his voice and isolated a sound wave that became the basis for the vertical light sculpture.
The name PEACEMINUSONE comes from the performer’s fashion brand. The exhibition was reported by The Korea Herald. According to the publication, the artist seeks to capture sound in physical form before it disappears and believes that “words have a soul.”

Works at the ECHOES exhibition
Previously, Lee Kwang-young created physical objects based on the voices of Barack Obama, John Lennon and the late Cardinal Kim Su-hwan. In addition to the work dedicated to G-Dragon, the ECHOES exhibition features four more works.
Among them is a 255-centimeter sculpture created from the sounds of waves in the eastern coastal city of Gangneung. The artist spent three years there recovering from an illness at around the age of 20. Another work, Stay Healthy, was created from the voice of the artist’s mother and soil from the garden she cultivated. The exhibition will run until October 24.
