Ukrainian sumo wrestler Aonishiki served as chief of a police precinct in Tokyo for a day
Ukrainian sumo wrestler Danilo Aonishiki Yavgusishin served as acting chief of the Fukagawa Police Station in Tokyo for one day.
The event took place in the Koto Ward near the Tokyo Museum of Modern Art. It was organized to inform residents about an upcoming reduction in the speed limit on roads near residential buildings.
More than 150 fans of the Ukrainian sumo wrestler attended the event. Aonishiki, together with law enforcement officers, handed out informational flyers to pedestrians and drivers and urged them to follow traffic rules.
“There are residential streets near the Ajigawa stable as well, and I believe that if cars drive more slowly, pedestrians will be safer,” the athlete noted.
After the event, Aonishiki admitted that he was a little nervous about this role, which was unusual for him, but he believes he handled it well. He also expressed hope that this experience would help him get in the right mindset for the fall tournament.
