The children of the famous actors have had their first child together, making the two longtime friends grandfathers to the same little girl.
The baby’s parents are Lawrence’s 30-year-old daughter, Jasmine, and Murphy’s 36-year-old son, Eric, who have been in a relationship for quite some time.
The couple announced they were expecting their first child back in February, and this month a girl named Ari Sky was born. Eddie Murphy himself confirmed the happy news on April 18, noting that the baby was born about one or two weeks ago.
For 65-year-old Eddie Murphy, Ari Skye is already his fourth granddaughter, so the actor views his status as a grandfather as a familiar, if pleasant, part of life. For Martin Lawrence, however, this event was a special and first-time experience.
Lawrence couldn’t contain his emotions during his recent comedy tour, where he shared his joy with the audience.
“I’m a grandpa! Eddie Murphy and I have a granddaughter together! This kid is going to be so funny,” the actor exclaimed excitedly from the stage, drawing thunderous applause from the audience.
