A new power transmission line to Romania will be built through the Chernivtsi region. It will pass through the “Porubne–Siret” border crossing and will operate at 110 kV.

The regional military administration noted that the new power line will increase the capacity for electricity imports and help stabilize Ukraine’s power grid amid Russian attacks and potential power shortages.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had previously announced the construction of two new power interconnectors between Ukraine and Romania after signing a corresponding agreement with the Romanian side. One of the new lines is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026.

As a reminder, Ukrenergo has warned of possible prolonged power outages this summer.
