Geometry is used in the design of nuclear fusion power plants

In the field of nuclear fusion energy, scientists and engineers are studying plasma—which is referred to as the fourth state of matter. They are doing this as part of their work on the design and construction of a new type of power plant for electricity generation, according to Phys.org.

According to the publication, these future facilities will rely on the heat generated when two small atoms collide. A network of such facilities could create a new source of electricity.

Along with studying plasma, researchers are focusing on the complex equipment required for such facilities and temperatures higher than the Sun’s surface temperature. At the same time, they are trying to determine the best designs for a future power plant, focusing on geometry.

The publication notes that a network of such power plants could not only provide a new, stable source of electricity but also help ensure the energy independence of the United States.
