TotalEnergies board backs extension of Patrick Pouyanné’s mandate — Asharq Al-Awsat
In Paris, France, on September 25, the TotalEnergies board of directors unanimously supported extending the mandate of the company’s chairman and CEO, Patrick Pouyanné. Asharq Al-Awsat reports.
TotalEnergies also said that the board of directors had reaffirmed the relevance of the energy company’s strategy. The statement was made ahead of an investor update scheduled for Monday.
Investors’ decision in May
In May, TotalEnergies investors overwhelmingly approved the removal of age limits for the positions of chairman of the board and CEO. This decision paved the way for Pouyanné to remain at the helm of the company until 2033.

Pouyanné currently combines the roles of TotalEnergies chairman and CEO. The board of directors supported the renewal of his mandate in both roles.

According to the board of directors’ statement, TotalEnergies’ strategy continues to be based on two areas: the oil and gas business and integrated power. The company confirmed this approach ahead of the planned meeting with investors.
