Wright reports record oil transit through Strait of Hormuz
More than 17 million barrels of oil were transported by vessels through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday. This is the highest figure since the start of the war in Iran at the end of February, U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright said in an interview with CNBC Top News.

Wright reported these figures on Wednesday during a conversation with CNBC host Brian Sullivan. According to him, this concerns oil transported by vessels through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday.

The secretary also said that oil exports from the region exceeded pre-war levels on Monday, taking into account pipelines in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates that bypass the Strait of Hormuz.
Pre-war level
Before the U.S. and Israeli attack on Iran on February 28, about 20 million barrels of crude oil and petroleum products were transported through the strait daily, Wright said. The figure of more than 17 million barrels refers to maritime transit through the strait itself, while the estimate of exports from the region also includes bypass pipelines.
