A 100-MW battery energy park will be built in Latvia
A battery energy storage system park with a capacity of 100 MW and a storage capacity of 200 MWh will be built in the Grobina municipality in Latvia. The project is being implemented by the energy infrastructure company SIA Enersense on behalf of the Latvian energy storage company Liepāja ESS, according to LSM English.
Enersense will carry out the work on a turnkey basis: it will develop the design, supply the necessary equipment and materials, carry out construction, and commission the facility. The contract between Enersense and Liepāja ESS, signed in February 2026, is valued at approximately 7 million euros.

The project involves the construction of a battery park and an underground 110 kV cable connection to the Grobina substation, which is operated by AS Augstsprieguma tīkls. Plans also include installing a 110/33 kV transformer, constructing a control building, access roads, and other infrastructure necessary for the facility’s operation.
Tesla Megapack battery systems will be used at the facility. A time capsule has already been placed in the park’s foundation, which, according to the company, marked the next stage in the project’s development. Enersense Director Arnis Odins stated that this is the largest BESS infrastructure project the company has undertaken in Latvia to date. SIA Elnetworks and SIA Firma L4 are also involved in the project.
