US rig count rises to 595 — OilPrice
In the United States, the total number of active oil and gas drilling rigs rose to 595 over the week. This is 53 rigs more than in the same period last year, according to Baker Hughes data reported by OilPrice.
Oil and gas rigs
The number of active oil drilling rigs increased by two to 452. Compared with the same period last year, this is 34 rigs higher. The number of gas rigs also rose by two to 134, 16 more year-on-year.
The number of rigs for other purposes did not change and remained at nine.
Production and basins
According to the latest data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, average crude oil production in the country for the week ending September 11 stood at 13.944 million barrels per day. This was slightly below 13.947 million barrels per day a week earlier, but 462,000 barrels per day higher than a year ago.

Primary Vision's Frac Spread Count, which estimates the number of crews completing work on wells, ended a four-week decline. For the week ending September 11, it increased by six crews to 184.
In the Permian Basin, the number of active drilling rigs increased by one to 269, 15 more than last year's level. In Eagle Ford, the figure was unchanged at 51 rigs, nine more than a year earlier.
Oil prices
Before the data were published on Friday, oil prices were declining. Brent traded at $103.60 per barrel, down 1.16%, while WTI stood at $100.67 per barrel, down 1.22%.
