Brands For Less reports 10–15% reduction in energy consumption in the UAE
In the UAE, retail group Brands For Less reduced energy consumption by 10–15% as part of a pilot project for digital energy management in stores, Schneider Electric reported in an article by The National. According to the company, the solution is planned to be scaled to 26 stores and, in the longer term, to more than 120 locations.
Digital energy management
For Brands For Less, Schneider Electric implemented EcoStruxure Building Activate, Operation and Advisor. These solutions made it possible to track stores’ energy indicators in real time and replace manual and fragmented energy-management processes.
The first stage of the project concerned the management of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. In the future, the solution can be supplemented with lighting automation and visitor-counting analytics.
Amel Chadli, President of Schneider Electric’s Gulf Countries Cluster, stated that combining electrification and digitalisation helps operators determine where energy is used or lost. According to her, connected sensors, real-time monitoring and software for modelling energy flows can reduce utility costs, decrease the number of unplanned outages and provide controlled accounting of carbon emission reductions.

Infrastructure resilience and workforce
Chadli also pointed to risks to the region’s infrastructure associated with extreme heat, water scarcity and climate change. In her view, digitalised electrical infrastructure can detect loads in advance, intelligently redistribute electricity during periods of peak demand and restore operations more quickly after disruptions.
The Schneider Electric representative called the shortage of specialists who combine knowledge of electrical power systems, data analytics and software an urgent problem. The company reported investments in training programmes, partnerships with technical universities and practical internships to prepare such specialists.
Schneider Electric’s Innovation Summit Middle East & Africa 2026 will take place in Abu Dhabi on September 15–16. According to the company, the event will bring together leaders of the region’s energy and technology industries.
