Daewoong Pharmaceutical deepens cooperation with Indonesia’s regulator
A delegation from Indonesia’s food and drug regulator BPOM visited the research center of South Korean pharmaceutical company Daewoong Pharmaceutical in western Seoul. The visit took place amid the company’s efforts to deepen cooperation with Indonesian authorities in drug development and regulatory matters, Korea Herald reports.
Visit to the Magok center
BPOM representatives visited the Magok research center last week. The complex covers approximately 49,500 square meters and has three underground and nine above-ground floors. It can accommodate more than 1,000 researchers and serves as Daewoong’s key research and development hub for global drug development programs.
BPOM pharmaceutical adviser Rita Endang noted that during the tour of the new center, the delegation saw how Daewoong Pharmaceutical is strengthening its research capabilities in new drugs and biopharmaceuticals. According to her, BPOM will continue constructive regulatory communication with pharmaceutical companies that invest and conduct research and development in Indonesia.

Drug development and approval
Daewoong said that the representatives discussed possible cooperation on product development, their approval in Indonesia, and future regulatory communication during clinical development.
Lee So Yoon, head of Daewoong’s Regulatory Affairs and Patent Center, said that the company will continue to work closely with regulatory authorities in Indonesia and other global markets. She named the development of innovative medicines and the advancement of locally adapted business as the goal.
Daewoong has considered Indonesia a strategic platform for its global pharmaceutical and biotechnology business for more than two decades. According to the company, its activities in the country include not only product exports but also local manufacturing, cooperation in research and development, and specialist training.
