Trump announces agreements with nine pharmaceutical companies on drug prices
US President Donald Trump announced a new round of agreements with nine pharmaceutical companies on reducing drug prices for American patients. Alcon, Astellas, BeOne, BridgeBio, CSL, Sun Pharma, Kyowa Kirin, Teva and UCB joined the agreements.
Terms of the agreements
The companies pledged to sell new medicines in the United States at prices comparable to the lowest prices in countries similar to the US. They must also offer their medicines to state Medicaid programs at “most favored nation” prices.
As STAT News reports, some participants in the agreements also committed to expand manufacturing in the US and replenish US strategic medical stockpiles. The publication notes that at least some companies are believed to avoid tariffs in return.

Supply of active ingredients
UCB, Sun Pharma, Teva and Astellas are jointly to provide 290 metric tons of active pharmaceutical ingredients to US strategic reserves under the agreements. All new participants in the agreements, except BridgeBio, are headquartered outside the United States.
Previously, 17 pharmaceutical companies reached similar agreements with the Trump administration.
