The primary cause of the financial losses was investment schemes, accounting for over $7 billion. Significant losses were also linked to scams involving crypto ATMs and so-called "refund" frauds, where victims were deceived multiple times.

Users over 60 years old suffered the most, losing around $4.4 billion. This high figure highlights the vulnerability of this age group to complex fraudulent tactics.

The FBI also reported a rise in sophisticated social engineering schemes and an increase in crimes employing artificial intelligence, complicating efforts to combat crypto-related crime.

Overall, the 2025 statistics emphasize the urgent need to raise awareness among users and improve security measures in the cryptocurrency market.

Experts predict that fraud will continue to grow, especially through new technologies, underscoring the necessity for closer cooperation between law enforcement and users.
