The dollar has fallen slightly in value: The NBU has announced the exchange rate for June 12

The National Bank of Ukraine set the official exchange rate for the dollar on June 12 at 44.92 UAH per dollar, which is 5 kopecks lower than on the previous banking day.

The euro also fell slightly—to 51.83 UAH, losing 6 kopecks.

Thus, after several days of growth, both currencies have retreated somewhat from their recent highs, although they remain at high levels.

Taras Kozak, president of the UNIVER investment group, explained that the unpredictable exchange rate fluctuations are a result of the National Bank’s policy, which the regulator refers to as “managed flexibility” and “constructive uncertainty.”

According to the expert, the NBU deliberately avoids creating trends that are clear to the market in order to limit opportunities for speculation and profit from predictable exchange rate changes.

Kozak noted that sometimes the dollar can appreciate even as interbank demand declines, and in other cases, it can depreciate contrary to market expectations. Such actions are part of the regulator’s strategy.

Experts believe that no sharp exchange rate fluctuations are expected in the near future, as the NBU continues its policy of curbing excessive currency volatility.
