Milan Stock Exchange loses 1.3%, BTP yield rises to 4.68% — ANSA English
In Milan, Italy, on October 1, the FTSE Mib stock index fell by 1.3% during the first hour of trading. As ANSA English reports, the spread between Italian government BTP bonds and German Bunds also widened.
BTP yield reaches highest level since 2023
The yield on 10-year Italian BTP bonds rose to 4.68%. This was seven basis points higher than at the close of trading on Wednesday and the highest level since 2023.

The spread between BTPs and German Bunds increased by five basis points to 106 points. The agency noted that markets were affected by concerns over energy costs linked to the war in Iran, as well as concerns about US government debt. Against this backdrop, many sovereign bonds reached new highs.
Companies with the biggest losses
Among the biggest early-session laggards were shares in telecommunications company TIM, which fell by 3.6%, and Poste Italiane, whose shares lost 2.9% of their value.
