Ericsson marks 30 years of operations in Ghana
Ericsson has marked the 150th anniversary of its global operations and 30 years of work in Ghana. Since 1996, the company has cooperated with the country’s government, the telecommunications industry and society, MyJoyOnline reports.
Mobile connectivity development
According to Ericsson, the company participated in the launch of Ghana’s first commercial GSM network. Over the next three decades, it deployed 3G and 4G networks in the country, rural coverage solutions and infrastructure for mobile financial services.
Ericsson noted that its technologies provide infrastructure for consumers, businesses and government institutions. Majda Lalu Kassi, Vice President and Head of Ericsson in West and Southern Africa, said the company intends to continue cooperating with partners in developing Ghana’s digital infrastructure.

Areas of further cooperation
Among the areas of further cooperation in Ghana, Ericsson named 5G and differentiated connectivity technologies, cloudification and automation, enterprise and mission-critical networks, as well as mobile financial services.
Rostand Njomgang, Head of the Ericsson Central cluster in West and Southern Africa, said the company intends to support skills development and invest in an ecosystem that will contribute to Ghana’s aspiration to become a digital leader. He also named 5G, artificial intelligence and cloud innovations as areas for the next stage of connectivity development.
