In Ghana, three operators advance to the next stage of selection for spectrum licences
Ghana’s National Communications Authority has completed the qualification stage for selecting applicants for licences to use radio frequencies in the 700 MHz, 2.3 GHz and 3 GHz bands. Three of the four companies that submitted applications were admitted to the next stage of the procedure.
Who qualified
As MyJoyOnline reports, applications were accepted until 17:00 on 27 August. The regulator reviewed the documents and found Scancom Plc (MTN Ghana), Ghana Telecommunications Company Limited (Telecel Ghana), and Goal Telecommunications Ltd to meet the established conditions.
Infrava Ltd was the only company that did not qualify. The National Communications Authority said it had notified all four applicants of the decision and, where applicable, provided the reasons.

The next stage of the procedure
Qualification included checking applicants’ compliance with the requirements and a technical assessment of the materials submitted in Envelope A. Only the three approved companies will proceed to the third stage of the selection process.
The regulator will not open Envelope B submitted by Infrava Ltd due to the company’s exclusion at the previous stage. The authority will then open and rank the best price offers from qualified applicants. They will be separately informed of the date, time and venue of this procedure.
Licences for frequencies in the 700 MHz, 2.3 GHz and 3 GHz bands are being offered under a competitive licensing procedure conducted by Ghana’s regulator.
