Singapore restores fibre network services after outage in Bishan and Thomson
Singapore has fully restored fibre network services disrupted in the Bishan and Thomson areas. Restoration was completed at 5:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Channel NewsAsia reported, citing network operator NetLink Trust.
About 2,000 connections
The disruption began on Tuesday and affected approximately 2,000 end-user connections. NetLink Trust said the cause was damage to fibre infrastructure during construction work carried out by a third-party contractor.
According to the company, several fibre-optic cables were damaged during road widening works. The contractor was not engaged by NetLink Trust.

Restoration continued overnight
The company noted that restoration work was complicated by water ingress and obstructions at the damage site, which limited access to underground cables. NetLink Trust teams worked throughout the night to restore services as quickly and safely as possible.
The operator is conducting a thorough review of the incident and plans to take appropriate action after the investigation is completed. Users who continue to experience service issues were advised to contact their internet service providers.
Previous incident
NetLink Trust owns and operates the fibre infrastructure of Singapore's National Broadband Network. In April, cable damage caused broadband disruptions for about 5,000 users in the Ang Mo Kio, Bishan, Sengkang and Punggol areas.
