Fiber network outage in Singapore affects customers of three operators
In Singapore’s Bishan area, some Singtel, StarHub and M1 subscribers may have experienced broadband internet disruptions due to an outage in NetLink Trust’s fiber network. Channel NewsAsia reports.
Disruptions in Bishan and Thomson
Singtel said that NetLink Trust had informed the company about an outage in the fiber network in Bishan, which may have affected some of its customers in the area. Singtel noted that its engineers were checking the issue together with NetLink Trust.
StarHub said it was aware of broadband internet disruptions affecting some customers due to damage to a fiber line that affected several operators. The company said it was working with NetLink Trust to restore services as quickly as possible.

For its part, operator M1 said that the problems may have affected some of its subscribers in the Bishan and Thomson areas. The company also said it was working jointly with NetLink Trust to promptly restore services.

According to Downdetector, a service that collects reports on service status from several sources, the number of reports related to Singtel rose to 108 as of 13:35 and reached 122 at 14:35. For StarHub, the figure rose to 109 around 13:35 and fell to 32 by 15:20. The number of reports concerning M1 stood at 35 at 13:35 and decreased to nine at 15:25.
NetLink Trust owns and operates the fiber network infrastructure of Singapore’s nationwide broadband network. In April, damage to a NetLink Trust cable caused fiber internet disruptions for about 5,000 users in parts of Ang Mo Kio, Bishan, Sengkang and Punggol.
