Yelyzaveta Ushcheka was named head of Ukrainian Fashion Week

Yelyzaveta Ushcheka has become the new head of Ukrainian Fashion Week, succeeding Iryna Danilevska as CEO. For the past five years, Ushcheka has led the organization’s Communications Department.

Iryna Danilevska had led Ukrainian Fashion Week since its founding in 1997. Together with the “Serhiy Bizov” Fashion House, she launched a project in Kyiv called “Fashion Seasons.” It became the first prêt-à-porter Fashion Week in Eastern Europe.

Over nearly 30 years, Danilevska has become one of the key figures in the Ukrainian fashion industry. However, her departure from the CEO position does not mean she is leaving Ukrainian Fashion Week. She remains on the team and will continue to be responsible for coordinating interdepartmental collaboration and financial matters.

According to Danilevska, the decision to hand over leadership to Yelizaveta Ushcheka developed gradually. The idea first arose while they were working together on the “Support Ukrainian Fashion” project, a significant portion of which fell on Ushcheka’s shoulders.

“The main factor that influenced my decision to offer my colleague, Yelyzaveta Ushchetska, the position of CEO of Ukrainian Fashion Week is Liza’s character. She is a person with an outstanding education, someone who shares my values, someone with extraordinary resilience and work ethic, and someone who knows how to set priorities,” Danilevska said.

Yelyzaveta Ushcheka joined the Ukrainian Fashion Week team in 2021. Over the past five years, her area of responsibility has expanded: she has worked in media, communications, international projects, and special initiatives, and for the last five years has headed the Communications Department.

Ushcheka has navigated the post-COVID period, the start of the full-scale invasion, Ukrainian Fashion Week’s international seasons, and the return of Fashion Week to Kyiv alongside the team.

“It is a great honor for me to lead Ukrainian Fashion Week, and I am sincerely grateful to Iryna Danilevska and Oleksandr Sokolovsky for their trust,” said Ushcheka.

She emphasized that one of her main tasks will be to ensure the continuity of Ukrainian Fashion Week’s work. According to the new CEO, Danilevska will continue to work as part of the team.

“I am confident that I will be able to ensure the continuity of the institution’s work and, together with the team, continue to work on fulfilling Ukrainian Fashion Week’s long-term mission—the development and promotion of the Ukrainian fashion industry in Ukraine and around the world,” noted Ushcheka.

Ukrainian Fashion Week co-founders Iryna Danylevska and Oleksandr Sokolovskyi stated that they are proud of the team’s work amid a full-scale war. According to them, it is important that leadership is handed over to someone who has weathered this difficult period alongside the organization.

The next important step for Ukrainian Fashion Week will be preparing for the project’s 30th anniversary. International collaboration will also remain one of the team’s key areas of focus.

Despite the full-scale war, Ukrainian Fashion Week continues to hold its seasons in Ukraine. The most recent season took place with delays due to air raid alerts and had to be held in shelters. The program featured both newcomers and niche brands, as well as well-known representatives of Ukrainian fashion.

Interest in Ukrainian fashion is also confirmed by metrics on social media. The finale of the Syndicate show on the Ukrainian Fashion Week Instagram page was viewed by 150,000 people, while the J’amemme show drew 140,000 views. The page’s total reach is approaching 4 million.
