Auchan Explained the Restrictions on Food Sales to a Single Customer
The “Auchan” supermarket chain has imposed limits on the retail sale of basic food items to six units or six kilograms per receipt, and on eggs—up to six dozen. The restrictions apply to canned goods, cooking oil, vinegar, salt, sugar, flour, grains, and pasta.
The company’s press office denied rumors of a possible shortage and explained that the decision is related to distinguishing between retail and wholesale purchases. Customers who wish to purchase more than six units of a single item can do so at special locations designated for wholesale sales, which helps ensure a consistent supply of goods on retail shelves.

Russian strikes on warehouses and logistics centers are already forcing Ukrainian retail chains to restructure their operations. The greatest risk currently concerns perishable goods, as well as large household appliances. At the same time, the market does not expect a general shortage, but shoppers may see a smaller selection of goods and higher prices due to more expensive delivery.
In some supermarkets in the capital, shoppers have already noticed empty shelves; in particular, some types of grains, fresh herbs, and other products were temporarily out of stock.
