Citibank Korea selects Kim Kyung-ho as candidate for chief executive — Korea Herald

In South Korea, Citibank Korea’s executive recommendation committee selected Kim Kyung-ho, head of corporate banking, as the final candidate for the position of the bank’s new chief executive. He may replace Yoo Myung-soon, who is leaving the post after six years at the helm of the institution, Korea Herald reports.

Appointment requires approval

The committee selected Kim Kyung-ho at a meeting on Tuesday. His appointment is expected following approval at a shareholders’ meeting and a subsequent meeting of the bank’s board of directors.

The term of the current chief executive, Yoo Myung-soon, expires on October 27. She has led Citibank Korea since 2020 and was reappointed for a second term, but did not seek a third.

Corporate banking experience

Kim Kyung-ho has worked at Citibank Korea since 2001. He has held various positions in corporate banking, including as a relationship manager for key corporate clients.

He currently heads the corporate banking division, which provides services to major Korean companies, state-owned enterprises, financial institutions and multinational corporations. If Kim’s candidacy is approved, he will become the third consecutive Citibank Korea chief executive to have previously headed the corporate banking division. Yoo Myung-soon and her predecessor, Park Jin-hee, followed the same career path to the position of bank chief executive.
