China approves Pfizer drug for weight control
Chinese regulators have approved Pfizer’s drug called Xianweiying (先维盈) for the treatment of obesity and excessive weight in adults. The decision was made by China’s National Medical Products Administration, marking a significant development in the country’s fight against obesity.
The medication works through the GLP-1 mechanism, which mimics a hormone that regulates blood sugar levels and suppresses appetite, aiding weight loss. The exact dates for the drug’s market availability in China have not been announced.
