In the course of this project, Microsoft has already signed a multi-year capacity lease agreement, as the company is facing a shortage of computing resources. It has also signed contracts with several "neocloud" providers to boost its computing capabilities. The initiative to invest in the Portuguese center is part of Microsoft's broader strategy, which includes plans to invest more than $15 billion in infrastructure in the UAE and nearly $10 billion in Norway.
The move underscores Microsoft's commitment to expanding its AI capabilities and meeting the growing demand for data processing capacity. With active investments in different countries, the corporation demonstrates its intention to strengthen its position in the global technology market.
