Tenant in Abu Dhabi pays 155,000 dirhams a year for an apartment on Reem Island
French citizen Guillaume Nassif rents a three-bedroom apartment in the Parkside B Residence residential complex on Reem Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE, for 155,000 dirhams a year. He moved there in May 2023 with his wife and two children. His is the only apartment on the building’s top floor, The National reports.
Renting without a prior viewing
Nassif said he decided to settle on Reem Island after receiving a job offer in Abu Dhabi while living in Dubai. Due to the long commute between the cities, the family decided to look for housing closer to his new workplace.
The apartment was recommended by an acquaintance of his wife. The family signed the lease without viewing the property beforehand. According to Nassif, they were lucky with their choice, as they are satisfied with the accommodation.
The apartment has three bedrooms and a maid’s room. Nassif called the lack of neighbors on the floor one of its advantages, as it allows them to host gatherings with friends. The apartment adjoins a terrace of about 100 square meters, where the family holds parties, barbecues, and children’s gatherings.

Reem Island infrastructure
Nassif first lived on Reem Island after arriving in the UAE in 2016, and later moved to Dubai. According to him, the area, which had previously been fairly isolated, gradually developed: Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, a shopping mall, hospitals, and Reem Park appeared there.
Among the amenities in the area, he named two swimming pools, a lounge area, terraces, a barbecue area, a PlayStation gaming area, a communal garden, and a children’s playground. Nassif also runs along a route beside the canal to the beach, while Reem Park, he said, is about four minutes from the building.
The family has already bought another apartment in a neighboring residential project. Nassif expects it to be handed over in about a year.
