Shinsegae to build Korea’s first Aman complex in Seoul
Shinsegae Property, a development company within Shinsegae Group, will build South Korea’s first complex by the ultra-luxury hotel brand Aman in Seoul’s Cheongdam-dong district. The project, called Aman Seoul, will include a hotel, 49 branded residences, retail and cultural spaces.
As The Korea Herald reports, Shinsegae Property will be responsible for the project’s planning, strategy and implementation. Aman will handle the design and operational management of the hotel and residences under a long-term agreement.
Hotel and residences
The complex will be built on a site of about 70,000 square metres. The building will have eight underground levels and 38 above-ground floors. Shinsegae Group Chairman Chung Yong-jin said Aman Seoul is intended to become a new milestone for Seoul’s premium lifestyle segment.
Aman chose the Gangnam district for its entry into the Seoul market, taking into account Shinsegae Property’s development experience and Seoul’s status as a global lifestyle hub. The brand is already present in Tokyo, New York and Bangkok, while its pipeline includes projects in Beverly Hills, Miami Beach, Dubai and Singapore.

Spa and private club
The complex is planned to include an urban retreat combining Aman’s signature privacy and spaciousness with Korean spatial aesthetics. The project will include a spa and wellness area, as well as the private Aman Club with a swimming pool, fitness centre and lounge.
Aman Group Chairman Vlad Doronin called Seoul a global city where culture, design, technology and wellness converge. According to him, Aman Seoul reflects the group’s confidence in Seoul’s future and its intention to create a new Aman lifestyle destination in the city.
In July, Shinsegae Group entered into an agreement to establish a joint venture with OKO Group. Initial investment in the partnership amounts to $500 million; it will develop hotels and residences under the Aman and Janu brands.
