Ogun State says land offer was revoked over non-payment
The authorities of Nigeria’s Ogun State said they revoked a provisional offer for the allocation of a land plot in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area because its cost was not paid within the stipulated 60-day period. As Premium Times Nigeria reports, this was stated by the special adviser to the state governor on information and strategy, Kayode Akinmade.
Terms of the offer
According to Akinmade, the 4.646-hectare plot is located in Fere village, Jibowu, along the Abeokuta—Sagamu expressway. Its cost was assessed at 334,493,200 naira. The original applicant, Adijat Jumoke Busari, applied for the land allocation on January 7, 2025, under number OW/SL/C.1302.
After the plot was inspected, the bureau responsible for land allocation issued her a provisional offer letter on March 25, 2025. According to Akinmade, Busari received the letter containing the assessment on April 2, and the document required payment for the land within 60 days.
Payment made
On June 17, 2025, Busari paid 2,304,200 naira, but, according to Akinmade, this amount covered only the associated prescribed charges. These included documentation, annual land rent, a government survey, preparation, and registration fees.

The government representative said that the main charges for the plot — the Premium Fee, Capital Contribution Fee, and Special Infrastructural Development Charge — remained unpaid. According to him, after the offer was revoked, the applicant was officially notified of this, and following a new application, the land was allocated to another company for industrial development.
Alternative plot
Akinmade also said that after Busari’s appeals, the authorities held meetings with her. On March 10, 2026, she was promised assistance in obtaining an alternative land plot on humanitarian grounds. The parties were also to discuss the procedure for settling the issue of existing improvements on the original plot.
According to the official, the bureau did not receive official notification of any further agreement regarding the alternative plot or these improvements. Akinmade denied that this involved the arbitrary withdrawal of a fully paid-for land plot.
