Norway extends license for lottery allowing children's participation through bottle returns

Norway has extended the license for the Pantelotteriet lottery, which allows children to participate by returning empty bottles. The lottery operates on a bottle deposit return system: participants can either get their deposit back or use it to buy a lottery ticket. The grand prize is 1 million Norwegian kroner (about 100,000 euros).

The company’s leader stated that no child has ever won the grand prize so far. However, an organisation focused on gambling addiction criticises the lottery, warning it may contribute to early development of gambling addiction among youth.

Despite the criticism, the lottery continues to operate, making it crucial to monitor its impact on young people and potential social consequences moving forward.
