Cyprus in October: warm sea, fewer tourists and cooler evenings

In Cyprus, October remains suitable for a beach holiday, especially in the first half of the month: daytime temperatures on the coast usually range from 27–29°C, while the sea is warmed to around 26–27°C. At the same time, there are fewer tourists than in August and September, and accommodation may cost less, Cyprus Mail reports.

Weather and sea temperature

According to long-term observations by the Cyprus Meteorological Department, daytime temperatures in Paphos reach an average of 27°C in October, 27–28°C in Limassol, and 28°C in Larnaca. In Nicosia, daytime temperatures may be around 29°C, while in the Troodos mountain areas they range from 19–21°C and drop to 10–11°C at night.

At the beginning of the month, daytime temperatures in coastal areas often reach 28–30°C. During the last week of October, daytime highs are more often 24–27°C, evenings become cooler, and the likelihood of downpours and thunderstorms increases. The water cools more slowly: by the end of the month, sea temperatures may remain at 25–26°C.

Average October rainfall is around 19 mm in Larnaca, 25 mm in Limassol and 31 mm in Paphos. Rain often falls as short downpours or thunderstorms, although weather conditions may vary considerably from year to year.

Resorts, prices and holidays

In Paphos, Limassol, Larnaca and Nicosia, restaurants, museums, shops, archaeological sites and other everyday services operate year-round. In Ayia Napa and Protaras, hotels, bars, boat trips, beach infrastructure and water activities are still widely available at the beginning of October. However, during the month, some seasonal establishments reduce their opening hours or close for the winter.

Hotel market data for 2026 cited by the publication estimate the average room rate in October at €76 per night, compared with €103 in August, or about 26% less. This is only an indication: prices depend on the resort, hotel, booking date and school holidays in the United Kingdom, when demand may rise.

October is also suitable for hiking routes in Troodos and on the Akamas Peninsula, visiting open-air archaeological sites and wine-producing villages. At the end of the month, tourists should take into account shorter daylight hours: in 2026, clocks in Cyprus will be set back by one hour on October 25.
