Direct flights between Tel Aviv and Marrakesh resume — Jerusalem Post

Morocco has resumed direct air service between Tel Aviv and Marrakesh. In August, airline Arkia operated the first direct flight from Israel to the popular Moroccan city after a break; Israeli carriers now operate three direct flights per week.

Expectations for tourist flows

By the end of 2026, around 20,000 Israelis may visit Morocco, the Jerusalem Post reports. The publication notes that current volumes of Israeli tourism remain relatively low, partly because of the limited number of flights.

At the same time, initial demand for direct connections, according to the publication, indicates the possibility of a gradual return to pre-war figures. Previously, Morocco was visited by approximately 100,000 tourists from Israel each year.

Expectations of the tourism business

Moroccan-Israeli guide Uri Attias, who has been conducting tours in Morocco for more than 30 years, told N12 News that the resumption of flights has personal significance for him. He was born into a family of immigrants from Morocco, speaks Moroccan Arabic and works with tourist groups in the country.

According to Attias, Morocco's tourism sector adapted to working with Israeli visitors in the years before the break in air service. He said that many local businesses are awaiting the return of organized groups: in particular, companies previously organized jeep tours for Israelis two or three times a month.

Attias plans to return to Morocco with the Eco tourist group in April, for the first time in more than three years.
