President Trump hints at cutting federal funding to New York

In an interview on 60 Minutes, President Trump discussed the New York City mayoral race, suggesting he might withhold federal funding if Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani wins. He called the young Queens assemblyman a “communist” and said he was “far worse than a socialist.”

Mamdani, 34, has proposed policies aimed at improving affordability in the city, including free child care, a rent freeze, and free public buses.

When asked about comparisons between himself and Mamdani as “charismatic rule-breakers,” Trump joked, “Well, I think I’m a much better-looking person than he is.”
