Trump says he intends to direct up to $500 million to support Republicans in midterm elections
US President Donald Trump said he plans to direct between $400 million and $500 million from his political organization to support Republican candidates ahead of the November midterm elections to Congress. He said this on September 4 in the Oval Office of the White House, CNBC reports.
According to Trump, the super PAC allegedly has “almost a billion dollars,” from which he intends to allocate “probably four or five hundred million.” He said the funds would be spent to prevent Republicans from losing the elections.
MAGA Inc. funds
At the same time, according to MAGA Inc.’s latest report to the US Federal Election Commission, as of July 31, the organization had $403.45 million in funds. This is less than half the amount Trump spoke about.
Since the beginning of 2025, MAGA Inc. has spent about $21 million, of which $1.7 million was independent expenditures. According to the Associated Press, the committee’s reserves exceed the cash balances of any of the major US party committees.

Support for candidates
Republicans competing for House of Representatives and Senate seats in competitive districts had expected MAGA Inc. to ramp up spending. The organization has already begun work in key states, including paying for an event in Michigan featuring Vice President J.D. Vance.
Trump also said that he would personally assess which candidates to support, including those he considers capable of winning competitive races. He said he was prepared to spend as much as necessary and also promised to make many campaign trips. In particular, Trump had previously said he intended to visit Alaska in support of Senator Dan Sullivan.
MAGA Inc.’s funds are not Trump’s personal money. The Federal Election Commission classifies the organization as an unauthorized hybrid political action committee. Its account, from which no contributions are made to candidates, can accept unlimited donations and finance independent expenditures in support of or against candidates, but does not allow this money to be transferred directly to election campaigns. MAGA Inc. is not required to spend its entire balance in the current election cycle, so some of the funds may remain for political activity in 2028.
