An 11-year-old British girl has become the youngest grandmaster in chess history
Bodhana Sivanandan, an 11-year-old chess player from the United Kingdom, set an age record by becoming the youngest grandmaster in chess history.
She achieved the required norm at the 46th Chess Olympiad in Samarkand, scoring 8 points in 11 games as a member of the English national team.
The previous record was held by Kateryna Lagno, who initially competed for Ukraine and later began representing Russia. She earned the title of grandmaster at age 12.

The Ukrainian Chess Federation (UCF) issued a statement regarding the possible appointment of Mykhailo Podolyak, a former adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine, as vice president of FIDE should candidate Timur Turlov win the election. The federation alleged illegal actions and described the situation as an attempt to forcibly take over the UCF.
