A 13-year-old Ukrainian girl will play in the Wimbledon final

The leader of the Tennis Europe U14 rankings, 13-year-old Ukrainian tennis player Maria Kocherzhenko, has earned the right to play in the final of the 2026 Wimbledon tournament in the under-14 age group.

On her way to the decisive match, the Ukrainian confidently advanced through the group stage, securing three victories over opponents from Denmark (Emilia Henningsen), Brazil (Gabriela Carvalho), and Australia (Claire Hirsch). In the semifinal, Maria defeated another Brazilian player, Eduarda Gomes, in two sets with a score of 6–3, 7–5.

In the championship match, Kocherzhenko will face Isha Manchala of the United States. The junior boys’ tournament has been held as part of Wimbledon since 2022, and last year, Ukrainian Sofia Belinska also reached the final.

As a reminder, Marta Kostyuk advanced to the round of 16 at Wimbledon after defeating Emma Navarro.
